What is going on? Things don’t seem normal anymore as the world is currently dealing with a contagious and infectious epidemic disease.
People are warned to stay in quarantine, while social distancing themselves from others. Daily routines and activities was suspended till further notice. Workers are told to work from home, student are also told to stay home while online learning or online schooling is being introduced, Banks are beginning to close down, Churches are moved to online format as gathering of 50+ have been banned by the governments, etc
As things are right now, nobody knows what is next, everybody is rushing to stores to stock up their homes.
There is talk of a possible total lock down because of health security. How much can a total lock down do to stop this? Some part of the world is already shorting down.
Is this signs of the End Times (or the End of the Age? The Bible told us about these signs in Luke 21.
The Bible told us that when hear of crisis such as this we should not be afraid; for these things must come to pass first, but the end will not come immediately. Luke 21:9 NKJV
Further it says,
“And there will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilence in various places…”. Luke 21:11 NIV
The Bible mention these things, even before it arise.
Dictionary definition of pestilence:
“A contagious or infectious epidemic disease that is virulent and devastating.” Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary
“The world is living in fear and anxiety.” The Bible says “men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth…”. Luke 21:26 NKJV
We have seen earthquakes, wars, famine in the land, even before the discovery of this pandemic, we have heard of other diseases in the past years.
Luke 21:18, The Bible told us not to worry because we shall not be perished. It says it like this “But not a hair of your head shall be lost.” NKJV
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
God says in John 14:27 NIV, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Anytime fear creeps in, remember His word, seek His divine peace that only He has assured you. When you have the peace of God, you are not fearful of any pandemic, or pestilence, because you know it is only seasonal. Hearts are beating, but this season too will pass away. Do not be afraid.
Let us not be anxious of what will happen next or who will next to be affected by the pandemic virus. The numbers and statistics are counting, and we don’t know what to do or where to run to. At this time, lets trust God, and seek refuge in Him. Psalm 91:9-10, Because we find refuge in God, no plague shall come near us.
Respond with Faith, and not Fear. Be prayerful. His word is truth and His truth can be your shield and buckler.
Now is the time to “Watch and Pray” Luke 21:36. Continuously and consistently pray on ‘Psalm 91, Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God’.
Till dates, many are still ‘scoffing at God’, many are still ‘considering nothing sacred’, 2 Timothy 3:2 NLT.
Follow the recommendations of the government. Wash your hands every twenty seconds, apply social distancing, cover your mouth when sneezing etc. However what is going on now need the mercy and grace of God.
Lets draw closer to God and seek Him more. Allow the season to strengthen your relationship with God. Proclaiming that God should be glorified through this pandemic.
